You selected:  An alternately-branched
shrub with single or absent terminal buds.
Smooth bark.  Twigs are bitter tasting.
Note:  There are 3 choices on this page!

  7.  Lower trunk bark might be flaky,
        but upper bark is smooth and gray.
        Small buds are sharp-pointed.
        If so, try black cherry.

          or

  7.  Bark gray with large "patches" across stems.
        Terminal bud is 1-2 times longer than wide.
        If so, try shrub cherries.

          or

  7.  Terminal buds usually more than
        4 times longer than wide.
        Bitter taste may not be very strong.
        If so, try juneberry.
