You're good!
There's little doubt that it takes less energy
to harvest and process wood than any other
raw material.  However, other materials have
definite advantages over wood for certain kinds
of things.  Also, there is some debate whether
wood stands out so well in the long term.  In any
case, it seems pretty clear that we should use
"wood if we could," if we want to be environmentally
friendly.
